We are all familiar with the story of the Red Riding Hood. A story we grew up with which was not in Singlish. The Original Story by Charles Perrault in French about 17th Century. Later by Brothers Grimms in the 19th Century. Now by Casey Chen in the 21st Century and in Singlish.
While English is widely spoken in Singapore, there is also Singlish – a unique Singaporean language which is influenced by the different languages spoken in our multi-racial society. As most Singaporeans use Singlish in our conversations, it may be confusing for our foreign friends to understand what we mean.
